ERICA CHARBONNEAU, PRESIDENT
I’m honored to be serving as PRESIDENT of SNA for the 2nd time. I love this neighborhood I’ve lived in for nearly 30 years, where I raised 2 children and a menagerie of pets. My husband and I own and operate Sunnyland Urban Farm, and I work from my Sunnyland studio as aN artist. You can often see me walking the neighborhood, being pulled by one or both of my dogs.
ANNIE SORICH, VICE PRESIDENT
I’ve lived in Sunnyland since 2014 (Bellingham since 2009). My husband and I love to walk and bike the neighborhood with our two daughters, visiting parks, breweries, and farm stands. I always love getting to know more neighbors, and I hope my work on the SNA Board helps to nurture the beautiful community spirit we have in Sunnyland.
Daniele O’Connell, Treasurer
Hello neighbors – we have had the pleasure of living, growing & changing with Sunnyland for the last 21 years! Our house is always busy with two active kids, Alex (17) & Ryan (12), Max our overly friendly dog & our newest pet Mr. Myrtle the turtle. I enjoy my time volunteering at the kids’ schools, running the PTA, working at our business, caring for aging grandparents, gardening & walking on our beautiful trails. I look forward to being part of our great neighborhood association.
MARGARET LYONS, SECRETARY
I’ve lived in my sweet Sunnyland home since I bought it in 2002 (thanks to Kulshan Community Land Trust). I raised both of my children and many pets here, met my husband here, and am a homemaker, gardener, office manager, and CERT volunteer. Way back when, I started my community involvement by serving on KulshanCLT’s board, during which time I also joined the Sunnyland Neighborhood Association board and served from 2005-2010. I’m passionate about sustainability, homeownership, food, and the strength of community, from friends to a neighborhood.
LUCAS HENDRICKSON, At-Large
Born and raised in North Dakota, I Married my high school sweetheart, Danae, and decided to move to Bellingham on a whim. We’ve Now been here almost 10 years and have been living in Sunnyland for five. I’m a Carpenter, outdoor enthusiast, and dad to our son, Jones.
LISA NELSON, At-Large
I became a part of the Sunnyland neighborhood when my son began kindergarten at Sunnyland Elementary in fall 2014 and was fortunate to ‘officially' move to the neighborhood in March 2018. I live in lower Sunnyland with my husband, Justin, son Parker (13), dog Charlie, and cats Stewart & Rosie. We love living in Sunnyland and enjoying all the wonderful things the neighborhood has to offer!
SHANE O’CONNELL, At-large
I have lived in Sunnyland for the last 21 years with my lovely wife. We have enjoyed raising our two sons with all the great neighborhood amenities, walkability, and bike-ability. In 2005 I started my own business, in what is now the brewery side of Twin Sisters, then moving to our permanent location on Ohio St. I am invested in the quality of life here and look forward to serving my community.

As a PNW transplant from the east coast, my family moved to Bellingham in 2022. As a new resident in the Sunnyland community, I look forward to getting more engaged in the lacrosse community, connecting with neighbors & businesses, biking, hiking, & continuing to explore the neighborhood & surrounding areas!
